Germantown
This highly sought-after neighborhood has the distinction of being Nashville’s first suburb. Through the growth of Music City, Germantown has since become a part of the downtown scene, bordered on one side by Rosa Parks Boulevard and the other by the Cumberland River.
View The Market ReportOver the years, Germantown has been through many different phases. Much of the industrial phase is still evident in abandoned warehouses and factories. The renewal period that began just under a decade ago has breathed new life into these buildings, most notably in the Werthan Bag Factory. Now a collection of gorgeous lofts with original flooring and exposed pipes and brick, the Werthan Lofts are some of the most desirable residences in the city. Developers and investors took notice of the popularity and began work on remodeling many of the cottages and craftsman-style homes in the neighborhood. The result is a thriving community filled with affluent young professionals, both singles, and small families.
An area with this level of popularity always has its share of delicious dining, and Germantown does not disappoint. Located inside the Werthan Lofts is Rolf & Daughters, a chef driven eatery with both classic and artistic dishes. Germantown Café is well known for its weekend brunch (we recommend the crab cakes benedict). The Mad Platter is another popular spot, with beautifully crafted classic dishes, as well as some of the chef’s favorite recipes. If you want to get in, make sure you have a reservation. Rounding out the list of favorites, Monell’s provides family-style Southern cuisine, while SILO features high-end Southern dishes. Lazzaroli Pasta is your go-to for Italian, and 312 Pizza Company is in the running for best pizza in the city.
If you’re just looking for something sweet or a great cup of coffee, Germantown also offers Savannah Tea Company, with plenty of tea and coffee choices. You can also check out Red Bicycle for coffee and crepes. Finally, save some room for one or more of the delicious desserts at Cupcake Collection.
Keep in mind that homes in this area will be expensive, but not everything has been remodeled yet. If you’re looking for an incredible investment, keep your eye on some of the homes on the outskirts of Germantown. Of course, if you want something move-in ready, plenty of new construction and remodeled homes are always available.
